Regular biography
Annalisa Buffa is a Full Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the Department of Mathematics (MATH). She holds the Chair of Numerical Modelling and Simulation and is involved in teaching courses such as Numerical Approximation of PDEs (MATH-451). Her research interests include numerical methods for partial differential equations, with a focus on the finite element method. She has supervised numerous PhD students and has received awards for her teaching and mentorship, including the Sonia Kovalevsky Lecturer award in 2023. She is also actively engaged in academic leadership roles at EPFL.
