ASAOKA Yoichi

Experimental Astroparticle Physics

About
Regular biography

Yoichi Asaoka is an Associate Professor in the PHY department at The University of Tokyo. His research focuses on experimental astroparticle physics, particularly with the Hyper-Kamiokande detector. He is interested in the direct detection of the difference between neutrinos and antineutrinos using neutrino beams, expecting to discover CP violation and to get closer to the mystery of the matter-dominated universe. Currently, he is directing the construction site for the start of the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment, which includes excavation of a huge cavern, construction of a water tank, and installation of photomultiplier tubes and readout electronics.
