Laurean Ilies

Laurean Ilies is a Professor at The University of Tokyo, Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, with an emphasis on the development of new-generation organic synthesis. His work explores the creation of functional organic molecules through highly efficient and selective coupling reactions, inspired by natural processes. He is also interested in sustainable catalysis using Earth-abundant metals and the development of organosodium chemistry as an alternative to organolithium reagents. His research aims to enable the rapid assembly of complex molecules from simple building blocks through precise ligand design and efficient catalysts.
