Trevor Jones

Trevor Jones is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on the application of soft matter mechanics in manufacturing and robotics, with an emphasis on interfacial fluid mechanics, flexible solid mechanics, and granular matter. Jones leads the Mechanically Intelligent Engineered Structures Laboratory (MInEnS lab) at CMU, where he explores the transformation of mechanical inputs into complex material assembly and control. He received his doctorate from Princeton University in 2023 and his bachelor’s from Vanderbilt University in 2017, both in chemical engineering. Jones is also a tribal citizen of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe and integrates indigenous wisdom and arts into his scientific work.
