Maysam Chamanzar is a Howard M. Wilkoff Professorship of Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on the intersection of photonics, bioMEMs, and neuroscience, with applications in neuroscience and biophotonics. His work includes developing multimodal neural interfaces and hybrid photonic-plasmonic-fluidic systems for diagnostics and imaging. Chamanzar is also affiliated with the Carnegie Mellon Neuroscience Institute and the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2012 and has published over 25 peer-reviewed papers. He is the director of the Biophotonics and Neurotechnologies Lab and the Shared Photonics Laboratory at CMU.
