Regular biography
Diana R. Haidar is a Faculty Director at TechSpark and an assistant teaching professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. She joined the university in fall 2017 and leads efforts in the Maker Ecosystem. Her prior research involved developing nanocomposites for extreme environments, which required custom testing equipment. Haidar focuses on connecting students to makerspace resources and promoting active learning through hands-on design experiences. She also engages in youth outreach to promote diversity in STEM. Her work has been featured in media outlets such as Popular Science and the Boston Globe.
