Anthony Rollett

Anthony Rollett is the U.S. Steel Professor of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science and University Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has been a faculty member since 1995, including five years as department head. Rollett became the U.S. Steel Professor in 2017 and a University Professor in 2024. He is the PI and co-director of the Institute for Model-Based Qualification & Certification of Additive Manufacturing (IMQCAM), a NASA-supported institute, and co-director of the Next Manufacturing Center on additive manufacturing. His research focuses on microstructural evolution and microstructure-property relationships in 3D, using experiments and simulations. His lecture notes on texture and anisotropy are widely used, and he started a master’s program in additive manufacturing in 2018.
