Professor Mark Girolami

Professor Mark Girolami is the Sir Kirby Laing Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering. His research interests include Statistical Science, Computational Statistics, Bayesian Statistics, and Machine Learning. He is also affiliated with the Alan Turing Institute, where he serves as Chief Scientist. His work spans Computational Statistical Inference, Data Centric Engineering, and applications of probabilistic modeling in engineering and natural sciences. He has held significant roles at the University of Cambridge, including the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair in Data Centric Engineering. Additionally, he is a Fellow of Christ’s College, Cambridge, and has contributed to academic leadership through roles at the Alan Turing Institute and Imperial College London.
