Scott Biering is an Assistant Professor in the Department of BIO at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on viral pathogenesis, particularly host-pathogen interactions at the interface of physiological barriers. His work explores how viruses disrupt host barriers and investigates strategies to block viral pathogenesis. Biering's research includes studies on flaviviruses and SARS-CoV-2, with an emphasis on understanding mechanisms of barrier dysfunction and developing therapeutic approaches. He joined UCSD in 2023 after completing postdoctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where he investigated mechanisms of flavivirus and coronavirus pathogenesis.
