Regular biography
Margaret Schabas is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at The University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on the history and philosophy of economics, with an emphasis on how economics has interacted with other disciplines such as mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics. She explores the transformation of economics into a mathematical discipline and examines the nature of laws governing economic phenomena. Currently, she is continuing her study of Hume’s economics and working on a project that investigates the overlap between biology and economics, contributing to the development of bioeconomics.
