Hugh M Neary is Professor Emeritus at The University of British Columbia, Department of Economics. His research focuses on evolutionary approaches to property rights. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. His work includes recent papers on conflicts over sacred goods, identity and terrorism, and the evolutionary logic of honoring sunk costs, often in collaboration with Mukesh Eswaran. He has published in various journals, including the Journal of Public Economics, Economic Inquiry, and the Canadian Journal of Economics. His research areas include industrial organization and economic models of conflict.
