Regular biography
Florian Hoffmann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at The University of British Columbia. His research focuses on the determinants of life-cycle earnings and career dynamics, dynamic discrete choice models of human capital formation, estimation of equilibrium search models, and the role of student-instructor interactions in post-secondary academic achievement. He is a member of the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Working Group at the Becker-Friedman Institute, University of Chicago. His work includes studies on how instructor characteristics, such as race and gender, influence student performance and outcomes. Hoffmann's research has been published in leading economics journals, including the American Economic Review and the Journal of Human Resources.
