Simon Cowan

Simon Cowan is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Economics and Worcester College. His research focuses on theoretical models of pricing in imperfect competition, particularly price discrimination and its welfare effects, as well as the regulation of privately-owned utilities. He has contributed to publications in the American Economic Review, The Economic Journal, and the Rand Journal of Economics, and has served as a former editor of Oxford Economic Papers. Cowan has taught a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introductory Economics, Microeconomics, and Industrial Organization. He was Head of Department between October 2019 and September 2020.
