Paola Conconi

Paola Conconi is a BP Professor of Economics and Professorial Fellow at New College, University of Oxford. She is a Professor of Economics (Statutory Chair) at the University of Oxford and a Professorial Fellow at New College Oxford. Before joining Oxford, she was a Professor of Economics at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and a member of the European Centre for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics (ECARES). Her research interests include international trade, political economy, and firm organisation. She has published extensively in leading economics journals, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, and the Review of Economic Studies.

Paola Conconi's research focuses on International Trade, Political Economy, and Firm Organization. Her work examines the internationalization process of firms, from exports to foreign direct investment, and analyzes how global value chains and trade policies influence firm behavior. She investigates the political economy of trade and migration, the role of lobbying in globalization, and the impact of trade liberalization on organizational change. Her studies also explore the protectionist effects of rules of origin and the interplay between trade and environmental policies. Conconi's research highlights the intersection of economic theory and political processes in shaping trade outcomes.
