Regular biography
Mercouri Kanatzidis is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Northwestern University. His research focuses on inorganic chemistry, solid state and coordination chemistry of chalcogenide and halide compounds, with an emphasis on the design of new materials for applications in solar energy conversion, radiation detection, and thermoelectric performance. He is affiliated with Argonne National Laboratory and holds the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor of Chemistry title. His work includes the development of nanostructured materials, intermetallics, and thermoelectric materials, as well as the exploration of their applications in nuclear and environmental remediation.
