Sossina Haile

Sossina Haile is a Joint Professor with Materials Science and Engineering and holds a Courtesy Appointment in Chemistry at Northwestern University. She earned her B.S. from MIT in 1986, M.S. from UC Berkeley in 1988, and Ph.D. from MIT in 1992. Haile's research focuses on electrochemically functional materials relevant to sustainable energy technologies. She teaches courses such as 'Imperfections in Materials,' 'Solid State Electrochemistry,' and 'Sustainable Energy Engineering.' Haile is also affiliated with the Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Professor of Applied Physics. She co-directs the ISEN program and has supervised numerous doctoral and master's students.
