Omar M. Yaghi is a distinguished professor at the University of California, Berkeley, where he holds the James and Neva V Neubauer Chair in Chemistry. He is also the Director of the Kavli Energy NanoSciences Institute. Dr. Yaghi is a leading researcher in the field of porous materials, particularly metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which are highly versatile materials with applications in energy storage, gas separation, catalysis, and environmental remediation. His work has significantly advanced the understanding and development of MOFs, and he is widely recognized for his contributions to the field of materials chemistry. Dr. Yaghi has received numerous awards and honors, including the 2025 ACS Award in Inorganic Nanoscience, the 2025 Crano Memorial Lecture, and the 2022 Kuwait Prize – Applied Sciences. He is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
