Edward Scolnick is a Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Biology. He is also recognized as a Professor of the Practice Emeritus and Chief Scientist at the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, Broad Institute. Scolnick's research focuses on the genetic underpinnings of psychiatric disorders such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and autism. His work aims to enhance understanding of serious mental illnesses by unraveling the genome and investigating underlying biochemical abnormalities. Prior to his current roles, he served as President at Merck Research Laboratories and founded the Stanley Center in 2007.
