Regular biography
Terry Orr-Weaver is a Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Biology. Her research focuses on the processes controlling cell division and cell size during development, including the transition from oocyte to embryo, regulators involved in cell cycle changes from meiosis to embryonic mitosis, and the coordination of cell size between tissue layers. She has also investigated replication origin activation and replication fork progression. Orr-Weaver has contributed to numerous publications in journals such as eLife, Current Biology, and Cell Reports, and has been recognized with awards including the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology Excellence in Science Award and membership in the National Academy of Sciences.
