Regular biography
Frank B. Gertler is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focused on the interplay between signal transduction pathways and the actin cytoskeleton, particularly in cell motility and the control of cellular protrusions. His work explored tumor cell invasion, metastasis, and neuronal migration. Gertler's research combined mouse genetics, cell biology, and biochemical approaches. He has contributed to understanding the functional importance of regulatory systems in development and disease. His publications include studies on Mena, filopodia extension, and tumor cell-driven extracellular matrix remodeling.
