Ron Vale is a Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Biology. He is a Professor of Biology and a Member of the Whitehead Institute. His research focuses on understanding how proteins generate biological movement and intracellular signaling, particularly in microtubule-based motor proteins such as kinesin and dynein. His work also explores how cells adapt to environmental stressors like temperature extremes, drought, or disease. The Vale lab employs microscopy, biochemical, and genetic approaches to study cellular processes such as movement, division, and transport. He is also interested in immune cell signaling and has contributed to various areas of biomedical research.
