Regular biography
Monty Krieger is a Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Biology. His research focuses on cell surface receptors and cholesterol, particularly their roles in normal physiology and diseases such as heart disease and infertility. Krieger studies lipoprotein receptors, including the High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) receptor SR-BI, and has contributed to understanding atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and the connection between cholesterol and female infertility. His work employs genetic, biochemical, and molecular biological methods. Krieger's research has led to significant insights into biological processes and therapeutic approaches. He is associated with the Whitehead Institute and maintains a profile page at https://biology.mit.edu/profile/monty-krieger/.
