H. Robert Horvitz is a Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Biology. His research focuses on the roles of genes in animal development and behavior, with an emphasis on understanding human disease. Horvitz uses the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism to study molecular and cellular pathways. His work has contributed significantly to the field of genetics and developmental biology. Horvitz is also a member of the McGovern Institute for Brain Research and the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. He is an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
