Christopher Burge is a Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Biology. His research focuses on the regulatory codes underlying pre-mRNA splicing and other types of post-transcriptional gene regulation. He applies a combination of experimental and computational approaches to study how the precise locations of introns and splice sites are identified in primary transcripts and how this specificity varies across cell types. His work also explores the functions of 3’ untranslated regions, including their roles in mRNA localization and microRNA regulation. Burge's lab integrates RNA-binding affinity spectra of RNA-binding proteins with in vivo binding and activity data to address these questions.
