David Bartel is a Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of Biology. He is a Professor of Biology and a Core Member of the Whitehead Institute, as well as an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His research focuses on molecular pathways that regulate eukaryotic gene expression through the stability and translation of mRNAs. Specifically, he studies microRNAs and other small RNAs that influence mRNA destruction and translational repression, as well as the roles of mRNA untranslated regions and poly(A) tails in regulatory processes.
