Golnoosh Farnadi

Golnoosh Farnadi is an Assistant Professor at McGill University's School of Computer Science and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Montréal. She is a visiting faculty researcher at Google and a core academic member at MILA (Quebec Institute for Learning Algorithms). Farnadi holds the Canada CIFAR AI Chair and co-directs McGill’s Collaborative for AI & Society (McCAIS). She is the founder and principal investigator of the EQUAL lab, which focuses on algorithmic fairness and responsible AI. Her research interests include algorithmic fairness, privacy-preserving machine learning, responsible AI, optimization, and deep learning. Farnadi obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from KU Leuven and Ghent University in 2017. She has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Montreal, MILA, and the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Farnadi's research emphasizes the development of fair and transparent AI systems that respect user privacy and promote ethical outcomes.
