Regular biography
Nathan Chen is a Benjamin Peirce Fellow at Harvard University in the Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on rational maps between algebraic varieties, including birational invariants, automorphisms, and moduli spaces of curves. He co-organizes the Harvard-MIT algebraic geometry seminar and teaches graduate courses such as Math 157. Chen was previously a J. F. Ritt assistant professor at Columbia and an NSF postdoc at Columbia and Harvard. He received his Ph.D. from Stony Brook University in 2021 under Robert Lazarsfeld and graduated from UC San Diego in 2016 with an undergraduate degree in mathematics.
