Oliver Hart is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Harvard University. He has been teaching at Harvard since 1993 and holds the title of Lewis P. and Linda L. Geyser University Professor. Hart is the 2016 co-recipient of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. His research focuses on the roles of ownership structure and contractual arrangements in the governance and boundaries of corporations, as well as how parties can write better contracts and the social responsibility of business. He has published a book titled Firms, Contracts, and Financial Structure and numerous journal articles. He is also a Fellow of several academic societies and has held leadership roles in professional associations.
