Dan Kahne

Dan Kahne is a Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. His research focuses on chemical biology and organic chemistry, with an emphasis on antibiotic resistance. The Kahne Lab investigates protein machines involved in the assembly of the outer membrane in Gram-negative bacteria, particularly the mechanisms of protein translocation, lipopolysaccharide trafficking, and beta barrel protein assembly. The group aims to develop new strategies to combat resistant bacterial infections by targeting these processes. Kahne is the Department Chair and accepts graduate students.
