Jochen Zeil

Jochen Zeil is a neuroethologist affiliated with the Research School of Biology at The Australian National University. His research focuses on the neural basis of natural animal behavior, particularly animal navigation, homing, and the ecology of information processing. His work bridges disciplines such as Behavioural Ecology, Neuroethology, Sensory Physiology, Evolutionary Biology, Machine Vision, and Robotics. Zeil's research explores the design and evolution of visual systems, emphasizing their role in natural environments. He has held academic positions at the University of Tübingen, Kuwait University, and ANU, where he currently works as a Centre for Visual Science Research Fellow. His teaching includes courses on sensory systems, communication, and navigation in invertebrates.
