Philip Best is a Professor at The University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the School of Physics and Astronomy. His research focuses on observational cosmology, galaxy formation, and the high redshift Universe. He investigates active galactic nuclei (AGN), their host galaxies, and their impact on galaxy evolution. His work also includes radio astronomy, the cosmic evolution of radio sources, and star-forming galaxies at high redshift. Additionally, he studies clusters and groups of galaxies, examining environmental effects on galaxy properties. Best is the Head of the Institute for Astronomy and contributes to teaching at various levels, including leading the "High Energy Astrophysics" course and supervising student projects.
