Orianna Ball

Orianna Ball is a Senior Teaching Laboratories Technician in the School of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Edinburgh. She is affiliated with the PHY department and contributes to research involving advanced experimental techniques in high-energy-density physics. Her work includes studies on femtosecond pulsed x-ray heating, x-ray thermal diffuse scattering, and the thermal conductivity of materials under extreme conditions. Ball collaborates on projects related to diamond anvil cell experiments and diagnostic instrumentation at facilities such as the European XFEL. Her research focuses on understanding phase transitions and material behavior under high pressure and temperature.
