Patrick Meir
Regular biography
Patrick Meir is a Research Fellow at The Australian National University's Research School of Biology. His research interests focus on the functioning of tropical forest ecosystems and how this varies with climate, soils, and species composition. His work spans the ecophysiology of plants and soil, including investigations into plant and soil processes, vegetation modelling, and remote sensing. He has led analysis of the impacts of drought on the Amazon rainforest carbon cycle and is extending these studies to Southeast Asia and Australia. His research also addresses nutrient and climate-related constraints on photosynthesis and respiration in tropical ecosystems, as well as soil respiration dynamics in tropical soils.
