Victoria Akin is an Associate Professor of the Practice of Mathematics in the Mathematics Department at Duke University. Her work primarily focuses on teaching and math education, with an emphasis on the retention of women in STEM fields and the impact of intervention programs on girls' attitudes toward math. She co-directs the Girls Exploring Math (GEM) program and is interested in grading systems, whole-class discussions, and professional development for graduate student teaching. Akin is also involved in research related to equity in grading and active learning in professional development. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and is affiliated with the Bass Connections Project.
