Julian Greenwood

Julian Greenwood is a Research Fellow in the Research School of Biology at The Australian National University. He is affiliated with the Division of Plant Sciences and is a member of the Way Group - Plant Ecophysiology and Global Change Biology. His research interests include plant ecophysiology and global change biology. Julian Greenwood's research focuses on agriculture, molecular biology, disease resistance, inflorescence development, and crop domestication. His work explores the genetic regulation of inflorescence architecture and development in crops like wheat, emphasizing the role of genes such as TEOSINTE BRANCHED1 and Ppd-1. Greenwood investigates how molecular mechanisms underpin disease resistance, including the function of wall-associated kinase genes and effector proteins in plant-fungal interactions. His studies also address crop improvement through genome editing and the identification of resistance alleles in rice and maize. These efforts aim to enhance crop resilience and productivity through molecular insights into growth and reproductive development.
