Research interests
focus on socially-engaged art and gallery practices, along with issues of public engagement in art galleries. Mills explores these issues through overlapping research projects that are connected with the UofL Art Gallery’s programs. She is part of Mootookakio’ssin ( distant awareness), a project to connect people living on traditional Blackfoot territory (Treaty 7, Southern Alberta, Canada) with non-sacred, historical Blackfoot items housed in museum collections in Europe through digital imagery, exhibitions, and outreach. With the Re:mediating Soil team, Mills is co-curating exhibitions, organizing outreach, and supporting artist’s residencies.
