Aude Fahrer

Aude Fahrer is a researcher at The Australian National University (ANU), affiliated with the Research School of Biology. Her research interests include Cancer Immunology, Epigenetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics. Dr. Fahrer's laboratory focuses on characterizing novel proteins involved in immunology and cancer, as well as developing a novel cancer immunotherapy. She has published over 2000 predicted novel proteins in the human and mouse genomes and has recently secured clinical trial approval for her immunotherapy project. Dr. Fahrer also teaches courses such as BIOL3141 Infection and Immunity and contributes to first-year biology and medical school immunology education.

Aude Fahrer's research focuses on immunology, particularly T cell biology, antigen presentation, and the role of the gut microbiome in immune responses. Her work explores mechanisms of T cell activation, tolerance, and negative selection, with a focus on γδ T cells and their interactions with MHC class Ib molecules. She investigates how genetic mutations, such as those in the kleisin β gene, affect T cell development and function. Fahrer also examines the impact of the gut microbiome on immune checkpoint blockade therapy and cancer immunotherapy. Her studies highlight the importance of genomic and transcriptomic approaches in understanding immune responses and disease mechanisms.
