Melissa A. Hines is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University. Her research focuses on surface science, scanning probe microscopies, nanofabrication, and chemical etching. She earned a S. B. in chemistry from M.I.T. in 1984 and a Ph. D. in chemistry from Stanford University in 1992. After postdoctoral research at AT&T Bell Laboratories, she joined Cornell in 1994. Her work explores sustainable nanocatalysis and photocatalysis on earth-abundant metal oxides using advanced imaging and simulation techniques. She is affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and has contributed to various academic and research initiatives at Cornell.
