Jiang-Gang Jimmy Zhu is a Courtesy Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, with affiliations in the Department of Physics and Materials Science and Engineering. His research spans computer/storage systems, cyberphysical systems, data/network science systems, electromagnetics, magnetic recording, and spintronics. Zhu is the director of the Data Storage Systems Center and co-director of the SYSU-CMU Joint Institute of Engineering. He is also a Fellow of IEEE and holds courtesy appointments in multiple departments. His work includes advancements in magnetic recording and secure systems, with contributions to over 290 refereed papers and 18 U.S. patents.
