Ira Rothstein

Ira Rothstein is a Professor of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Physics. His research focuses on Nuclear & Particle Physics and High Energy Physics Theory. Rothstein's work applies Effective Field Theory to study complex, non-linear, strongly coupled systems, including Higgs boson production, black hole horizon physics, and quantum aspects of solids. He has contributed to the understanding of classical gravity wave profiles for inspiralling black holes and their implications for LIGO experiments. Rothstein's academic profile includes a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland (1992) and M.Sc. from Brown University (1987).
