Regular biography
Mohammad Islam is a Courtesy Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on Materials Science and Engineering, with interests in additive manufacturing, advanced materials processing, and sustainable energy production. Islam received his Ph.D. in physics from Lehigh University and conducted postdoctoral work in physics and astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been affiliated with the Manufacturing Futures Institute and the Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation. His work includes projects on self-healing materials, carbon nanotubes, and energy storage technologies. Islam's research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation.
