Regular biography
Tim Flaherty is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. His teaching responsibilities include the calculus sequence, vector calculus, matrix algebra, and two courses involving math software: Introduction to Math Software and Symbolic Programming Methods. He has implemented online tools to supplement these courses. His research interests include wavelets, fractals, image compression, and tilings, with recent work focusing on Haar-type multitiles in multiple dimensions and their potential applications in image and data compression. He has also taught Topics in Analysis, addressing these mathematical areas.
