Gautam Iyer is a Professor and Associate Director of the Center for Nonlinear Analysis at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Mathematical Sciences. His research focuses on partial differential equations arising in applied mathematics, with an emphasis on fluid dynamics, mixing of passive scalars, and equations related to liquid crystals. His work includes global existence questions for PDEs, homogenization on intermediate time scales, and anomalous diffusive effects. Iyer's research often combines tools from analysis, PDEs, and probabilistic techniques. He has contributed to studies on Navier-Stokes equations, coagulation processes, and Q-tensor equations. His publications include collaborations with researchers such as Martin Hairer, Robert L. Pego, and Arghir Zarnescu.
