James Cummings is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on combinatorial set theory, particularly singular cardinal combinatorics, with recent work involving linear orderings, posets, and forcing techniques. He has also explored finite combinatorics using algebraic constructions and flag algebra methods. Cummings holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cambridge University and has held postdoctoral appointments at several institutions, including the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute and MIT. His publications appear in leading journals such as the Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society and the Transactions of the American Mathematical Society.
