John Woolford

John L. Woolford, Jr. is a Professor and Co-director of the Center for Nucleolus and Ribosome Assembly and Structure (CNAST) at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on yeast ribosome biogenesis, including pre-ribosomal particles, RNA-protein interactions, and the dynamics of RNA processing and ribonucleoprotein complex assembly. His laboratory investigates the pathway of ribosome assembly in eukaryotes using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model system. Dr. Woolford's work explores the molecular mechanisms underlying ribosome biogenesis and its implications for cellular function.
