Charles Ettensohn

Charles A. Ettensohn is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on developmental biology, including gene regulatory networks, early patterning and cell fate specification, morphogenetic cell movements, cell signaling, and biomineralization. His laboratory uses the sea urchin embryo as a model system to study how genomic information is translated into multicellular form. Research areas include early patterning, morphogenesis, and the control of development by gene regulatory networks. The lab employs a range of techniques, including molecular biology, genomics, and live imaging, to investigate these processes.
