Dr Christopher Braithwaite is a Research Associate at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, within the Department of Physics. He is responsible for innovations in the teaching of practical physics at the Cavendish. His research focuses on the mechanical and dynamic behaviour of materials, particularly examining how microstructure and mesostructure influence macroscopic properties. His work involves experimental design and diagnostics to achieve high spatial and temporal resolution. He collaborates with industry and government, with interests in granular materials, geological materials, and novel material interactions such as intermetallic reactions.
