Regular biography
Dr Philip Blakely is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge. He studied for a BA, MMath, and PhD in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, earning his PhD in Numerical Relativity in 2010 under the supervision of Professor Nikolaos Nikiforakis. His research focuses on the efficient implementation of numerical methods on computational hardware, including parallelising AMR algorithms and developing multiphysics numerical methods. He coordinates HPC teaching for the MPhil in Scientific Computing and supervises students for research projects. His work includes collaborations with industrial partners such as Orica Mining Services and Quaise Energy.
