Ian Wassell

Ian Wassell is a Fellow at the University of Cambridge Department of Computer Science and Technology. He joined the Computer Laboratory as a Senior Lecturer in January 2006 and was promoted to Professor (Grade 11) in October 2025. His research focuses on wireless communication systems, including broadband fixed wireless access, sensor networks, and the application of AI to wireless communication. Wassell has published over 200 papers since joining the university in 1999 and has supervised 29 PhD students and 6 MPhil students. He is also a fellow of Churchill College and has taught second-year linear systems and communication topics to engineering students.
