Yi Fang

Yi Fang is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Tandon. He directs the NYU Multimedia and Visual Computing Lab. His research focuses on 3D Computer Vision and Machine Learning with applications to robotics and autonomous driving. Professor Fang has published more than 50 papers in international journals and conferences, including IEEE TPAMI, TIP, TCybernetics, TNNLS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, ACMMM, IROS, etc. He has served in various roles, including publicity chair for the 27th ACM International Conference on Multimedia (ACMMM) and co-chair for the IROS 2019 session "Human-centered Robotics."

Yi Fang is an Associate Professor at NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Tandon, specializing in 3D Computer Vision, 3D Deep Learning, and 3D Meta Learning. His research focuses on developing advanced methods for 3D shape representation, retrieval, and learning. He has contributed to the development of deep learned shape descriptors for 3D shape matching and retrieval, as well as techniques for improving the robustness of 3D shape retrieval using cross-domain adaptation and semantic preservation. His work also includes applications in airborne LiDAR point cloud classification, mesh segmentation, and object detection performance analysis. Fang's research emphasizes the integration of deep learning with geometric and visual understanding to enhance 3D data processing.
